A rapidly growing need of homeowners, especially those with a home office, is an electrical floor box. This type of electrical box is flush with the floor to give better access to the media when there is one in a nearby wall.
An electrical floor box adds a lot of functionality to a room with only a few wall outlets. The need of running multiple extension cords is much lower and cords can now be hidden by the desks and other furniture.
Being on the floor, however, does not mean that there can be an injury from time to time for various reasons. As mentioned, the electrical box housing the floor is some kind of electrical outlet. It could be a way out, a switch, modem link, and even a cable satellite. Remove this box so you can repair the damage.
